Welcome! My name is Alex Healy and I’d love for you to get to know a bit about me before you read my blog.
I created this blog at the beginning of 2015 because I decided that I wanted to have a public space to write out my thoughts and receive constructive criticism or confirmation of my understanding.
I was born, and mostly raised, in Mississauga, ON, Canada. In grade-school I was deemed a gifted child, however I was unable to continue down this education path for long as I moved to the UK with my family. I spent two years in the English Channel on a small island named Guernsey, and had the luxury of travelling throughout Europe to England, Italy, France, Spain, and Switzerland. I have bowled and fenced competitively, and enjoy playing pick-up hockey and basketball.
I graduated from Mount Allison University in 2014 with my Bachelor of Commerce and had the pleasure of specializing in finance and marketing, which paired well with my minor in economics. As a Student-Athlete, I had the immense pleasure of captaining the Football Mounties and helped to achieve our first divisional championship in 17 years, I was selected to participate in the 2012 CIS East-West Bowl All-Star game, and have since given up my passion of playing football to pursue a more academic path. Mount A gifted me with an invaluable liberal-arts education, enlightened my understanding of corporations and economic systems, and has inspired me to share my understanding of our universe, and my budding ideas with you.
I began law school at the University of Ottawa in 2016, where I participated in the 1st year Nelligan Moot, as well as a mental-health law discussion group. My second year I have decided to expand my knowledge of national security and intelligence law within 5-Eyes jurisdictions.
I simply believe in safety, equity and happiness for all, and I plead to those who read this that they offer their opinion (whatever it may be) so that we may all increase our knowledge together.
